The theory test must normally be passed before a practical test can be booked. Both parts are taken in one sitting, and failing either means retaking both.[2]
Format
Part one is 50 multiple-choice questions in 57 minutes, with a pass mark of 43. Part two is hazard perception: 14 video clips containing 15 developing hazards, each scored up to five points, with a pass mark of 44 out of 75.[2][3]
Advice for Sevenoaks learners
- Start early. Newman encourages revising from the first lesson; learners who pass comfortably have usually done at least 15 hours of revision.[1]
- Understand, don't memorise. He recommends the Driving Test Success 4 in 1 app for its adaptive revision.[1]
- Hazard perception. Click for a developing hazard, perhaps around three spaced clicks, but never rhythmically, which can score zero.[1]
- Where to sit it. Tunbridge Wells is usually the more convenient centre; Sidcup sometimes has more availability.[1]
