Sevenoaks Driving Lessons is a driving school in Sevenoaks, Kent, operated by Geoff Newman as a sole trader. It teaches manual and automatic learners across Sevenoaks and nearby villages, seven days a week, with every lesson taught by Newman himself from first lesson to test day.[1][5] Alongside lessons, the business publishes Sevenoaks Driving Test Secrets and a set of video courses sold through its online shop, including The Complete 90-Day Pass.
Services
Manual lessons
Manual lessons are taught in "Penny", a dual-controlled Volkswagen Polo. Newman has said he chose the Polo because a learner's car should make clutch control, steering and manoeuvring easier, not harder.[3] A manual licence covers both manual and automatic cars.[1]
Automatic and electric lessons
Automatic lessons are taught in "Rene", an electric Renault 5 E-Tech with dual controls. Lessons cover what is different about electric driving, including charging and journey planning. Passing in an electric car gives a licence for all automatic cars.[4]

Lessons are pay as you go, with no block bookings, booking fees or app fees, and a learner's price is locked from their first lesson. Cancellations need 48 hours' notice.[2]
Hours needed
Based on the school's last 65 passes to September 2026, learners needed about 29 hours of lessons (about £1,750) against a DVSA guide of around 45 hours. Learners who also practised with a parent needed about 21 hours (about £1,300). Nearly nine in ten manual learners passed within 30 hours.[2]
Results
In 2026, 87% of the school's learners' tests ended in a pass (52 of 60, counting every attempt), against a Sevenoaks centre average of 59.0%. All five automatic tests in 2026 were passes. Newman notes these figures come from far fewer tests than the centre's and are not directly comparable with DVSA statistics.[7]
Area served
The school teaches across Sevenoaks, Kemsing, Ightham, Riverhead and nearby villages. It teaches pupils from Sevenoaks School, Trinity School and Walthamstow Hall, and from the Sevenoaks annexes of Weald of Kent Grammar School and Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys.[1] Families often get in touch months before a 17th birthday.[1]

Free guides
The website hosts free guides for learners and parents, grouped as: guides for learners (refresher lessons, international drivers, costs); guides for parents (supervising private practice, choosing an instructor); test preparation (the test centre, booking, pass rates, mock tests, nerves, failing, examiners, speed); choosing a car; electric cars; and automatic cars.[9] The Parents' Guide suggests early practice in quiet areas such as the Vestry Estate, the Otford and Bubblestone Road area and Bradbourne Lakes.[10]
